A Squared Construction delivers premium property development and brownfield restoration in the Chilterns and Hertfordshire. We transform neglected sites into exceptional homes that respect local architecture, enhance their surroundings and create lasting value for communities.
Four principles shape every site we take on, before a single drawing is made.
Precision
Meticulous attention to detail in every restoration, so structural integrity meets aesthetic excellence.
Responsibility
We take ownership of environmental and heritage impact, building with accountability to community and landscape.
Context
Every project is designed within its architectural, historical and environmental context. No templates, only solutions.
Integrity
An unwavering commitment to honest materials, skilled craftsmanship and transparent communication with everyone involved.
Premium homes that enhance their surroundings
A Squared Construction exists to deliver premium quality properties that don't just occupy a space, they elevate it. Every development we undertake is designed to enhance the character, value and appeal of the surrounding area.
We work closely with local communities, planning authorities and conservation bodies from the very earliest stages. Before a single design is committed to paper, we study the local architecture (the materials, proportions, rooflines and rhythm of the street) so that what we build belongs naturally alongside what already exists.
Our developments are not imposed on a neighbourhood. They are shaped by it. We consult residents, listen to concerns and adapt our proposals so the finished result is something the community welcomes rather than resists.
Community-first development. We engage neighbours before we engage architects. Their insight shapes our brief, and their support is a precondition of every project we accept.
Local architecture first
We study the street scene, roof pitches, materials and proportions of the surrounding area before any design work begins.
Community engagement
Neighbours are consulted at the earliest stage. Their feedback directly shapes our proposals and planning submissions.
Prestige and quality
Every property is built to a premium specification, with materials, finishes and craftsmanship that set a new benchmark for the area.
Enhancing the area
Our developments are designed to increase the desirability and value of the surrounding neighbourhood, not diminish it.
Our approach
Three disciplines, delivered as one team from first appraisal to final handover.
Derelict building restoration
Returning abandoned and deteriorated properties to productive use through sensitive structural intervention, materials conservation and contextual design, respecting original character while meeting contemporary standards.
Brownfield and wasteland redevelopment
Transforming contaminated or unused sites into residential communities. We handle site assessment, remediation coordination, masterplanning and delivery of homes that honour the memory of the landscape.
Architectural context and planning
Strategic guidance on planning, heritage regulation and design approach before a single line is drawn, positioning each project for approval through deep contextual analysis and early stakeholder engagement.
Great architecture does not announce itself. It listens: to place, to history, to the people who will live there.
Our commitment to the community
These are the commitments we are making before our first project breaks ground.
Local craft
We will build with regional trades and local specialists, keeping skills and spend in the areas our projects serve.
Working with conservation
We will engage conservation officers, planning authorities and heritage bodies early, and follow their guidance rather than work around it.
Open progress
We will document our first project from appraisal to handover and share what we learn right here.
Environmental stewardship
Brownfield remediation and landscape restoration should leave habitat and public benefit beyond the homes themselves.
Transparent standards
Our six standards are published before we start, so anyone can hold us to them.
"The purpose of architecture is not to build monuments to ourselves, but to create homes and places that communities will cherish for generations."
Our standards
Six stages every project will follow, in order, from the first site visit to the day we hand over the keys.
Standard 01
Site appraisal
Every project begins with a comprehensive site assessment: structural survey, environmental testing, heritage designation review and landscape analysis. We document existing conditions, identify challenges and map opportunities before design begins, so every decision is informed and every risk is managed.
Standard 02
Context analysis
We research architectural history, vernacular traditions, planning precedent, community needs and landscape character. That analysis becomes the design brief. We reject generic solutions in favour of proposals that respond specifically to place, heritage and community identity.
Standard 03
Material integrity
Original materials are preserved, conserved or carefully matched. We specify traditional techniques and enduring materials that age gracefully and, wherever possible, employ local craftspeople to support regional building traditions.
Standard 04
Planning excellence
We navigate planning and heritage constraints through early engagement and transparent communication. We believe contextually designed proposals earn approval by demonstrating respect for place and community, and we prepare every project that way from the first conversation with the local authority.
Standard 05
Site delivery
On site, we maintain rigorous quality oversight through regular inspections, materials testing and close supervision, so the design intent is realised. We document progress, manage logistics responsibly and keep neighbours and authorities informed throughout construction.
Standard 06
Legacy and handover
Projects conclude with a comprehensive handover: maintenance guides, materials specifications and heritage protocols. We stay in touch after completion to support the home's long-term success and carry what we learn into the next project.
